Greetings, fellow swamp creatures...

Had a great time at the San Diego Comicon, where I had the pleasure of attending a panel celebrating the career of John Totleben. John is best known for being one-half of the art team on Saga of the Swamp Thing when Alan Moore was the writer. If you haven't read any of those issues, you're in for a treat. The entire run is available in graphic novel format at most bookstores, and I highly recommend it whether you're a comics fan or not. It's just fantastic reading, perfectly blending horror, fantasy, romance, and the supernatural. I mean, Alan and John's Swamp Thing practically gave birth to the Vertigo comics line. Without them there would have been no Sandman series, no John Constantine, no Books of Magic... need I say more? Check out John's website at http://www.comicon.com/totleben/totleben.htm

You can't halt progress... or can you?

The technology for harnessing limitless energy from the sun to power our cars, homes, hospitals, etc. clearly exist today. Yet they are not being fully utilized. Meantime, millions of lives are sacrificed as we continue to drain our planet of resources we don't even truly need anymore. Why? Ask yourself: who stands to gain most from this?

The necessary means have been developed to distribute information and entertainment instantly to millions of people. File-sharing technology is transforming the world, undoubtedly for the better. Yet it is under constant attack everyday from the policy makers and their puppets. Why? What are they afraid of? If our oxygen supply were somehow containable, would they bottle it and force us to pay?

Whether or not you believe in conspiracy theories, you've gotta admit something fishy is going on.

Why?

According to official reports, 900 U.S. soldiers have been killed since the Iraq invasion began.

That's nearly half the death toll of September 11.

Is it just me, or is there something clearly wrong here?

Prefer MP3s to CDs?

It's official! The music of The Hungry Ghost is now available at iTunes, Napster, BuyMusic, etc. Basically, any online store that sells digital downloads. You can download individual tracks or entire albums, it's up to you. I haven't tried these services myself, but a lot of folks seem to be getting into it. Have you? Let me know what the experience was like...

Hallelujah!

Leonard Cohen turns 70 in September. And he's got a new album coming out that month too. If you haven't heard this guy before, you should definitely check him out. His songs are delightfully dark with a twisted kind of humor (hmm... remind you of anyone?). My two fav Leonard Cohen albums are "Songs of Leonard Cohen" and "Various Positions".

Was Michael Moore pulling his punches?

I thought Fahrenheit 9/11 was great, but it's (probably) only half the story. Read David Icke's review of the film for an interesting spin on the awful truth.

Well, here we are...
