A Microscopic Model of Reality
"Comics can make a microscopic model of reality, long ranging - 70 years long in the case of Superman's history - by making that model and making little tweaks to the model, that's exactly what happened when I was working on The Invisibles. We had things that went into the comic and would then manifest themselves in the real world and in my life. We can affect reality. We can actually change things by imagining them hard enough.
And you know, I may be nuts to believe that, but I do. And I think that's what we need to start dealing with. We need to make these new stories. We need to make the cave paintings of the 21st century that deal with the global world, that deal with the problems we have, that deal with everything we're having to cope with as the 21st century starts to accelerate and the world gets smaller."
